Hi, thanks for letting me join, I’m 63, been a lifelong motorcyclist, always liked the Lotus brand, thinking about a classic Elan to replace the bikes, here on a steep learning curve!

Welcome Chris,
'Bikes' is pleural. Shouldn't you keep one? The most reliable with best ergonomics for our older frames!
As for Elans. They are incredibly rewarding. Personally I'd spend a bit more and get one that's been done fully and properly.
The cost of a good restoration is more than the value of these cars.
Down to Elan or +2.
If the former, DHC or FHC, then pick the profile you like the best. There's really not a great deal of modern day practical performance difference between standard cars. We all have our favourites.

Agreed, and, my .02 digital-currencies is that the +2 is ideal for touring because of the front 1/4 windows, and (though you can change the Élan’s) rear toe in keeps the +2 easier to control and feels more stable.
