Evening all.

I am based in Warwickshire and have just taken on a 1975 Plus 2. The car seems to be in very good order and drives nicely. Looking forward to using it more.

I am compiling a list of stuff that I think needs sorting and for peace of mind have got it booked in with a specialist for a major service and thorough checking over but unfortunately not until May.

Early days yet but I am sure there will be loads of questions.

The umbrella style handbrake came as a massive surprise for a car of this age. Hill starts will be interesting. When mine is off the handbrake is way under dashboard and difficult to reach from usual driving position and you have to fiddle between some wiring to get hold of it. When it is applied it still seems difficult to reach. Is this normal?

Welcome Martin
You have a lovely looking Plus 2.
The Elan handbrakes are something unique and take a bit of getting use too.
Enjoy your new car

Welcome to the forum Martin,As Clive said once you are used to it it will be fine. There is usually an undertray similar to the one on the passengers side that fits just above the handbrake lever ( mine seems to have been cut in half exposing the wiring and trip cable but it is fine). Regards Steve

Does indeed look like a lovely car. Wish you well to drive it.

Cannot wait to get mine on the road!

All the best

Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

Lovely car, the Plus 2 is a great choice.

...you have to get used to not using the handbrake and just 'catching' the car on the clutch on hill starts, or at least that's always been my technique which I learned from my Caterham days.
