an old Elan +2 owner

Hi Everyone,

I'm Olivier, 44 years old french Elan +2 owner.
I bought my car in Belgium 7 years ago and did never more than 500km with it.

I came back overland and it has been a nightmare. Obviously, the seller didn't said the car was so in trouble.
The fuel tank sender unit was blocked full, with empty tank... then i stopped 50km later, on the traffics' motorway. The day after, i damaged the engine as the water radiator was drilled and oil was completely done...

To finish this bad part of the story, the papers appears to be falsified. Fortunately, the car wasn't stollen, it could be worst indeed !

Times has passed and i just began the restoration process. Chassis is stripped apart, engine is dismantled and body gone to paint shop... i expect to take back the new inside trims is some weeks.

It will be a fast project finally :)

A second project is waiting his turn. I bought quite everything to build a Spyder Zetec +2. I should start this one in 18 months if everything is going well...

Nice to be with you guys. I feel like i have some pages to read now
cheers
Olivier

Here are some photos...
This is a 72 S130/5. Matching engine, gearbox, diff, chassis, paint and trim. Quite a miracle, the chassis have just one rusty hole in the midlle, 1x1 inch, easily fixable. Eiffel tower are perfect :)

This is a relatively easy project for the moment except for rear strut and top engine head...

Thank you Veg,

Today i sprayed anti rust fluid from Restom inside corners and inside central hulk and rust transformer on all over the chassis. Then I restored the bottom of read left damper tube. That's all for today :)
Tomorrow, I should epoxy all the chassis :)

Hi everyone,

i'm back. No i did not trash all the parts and burned the rest of body in my garden...
I treated all the rusty parts, witch means every iron parts of the elan. Re spayed them and tidied up them.
Body came back from the moribund paint shop and i begun today to assemble parts.

I will post photos and continue this post in the elan plus 2 subject ....

Hi Olivier.
Looking forward to seeing your ongoing restoration photos.

I completed my car last year, it took me 7 years.

All the best.
