One day I aim to own ( edit ... ) an Elan, I've been a big Lotus fan since my youth.
Chapman was a genius, not only a design genius, but he knew when to
employ a person with better abilities than him. He knew his limits and
so ensured that Lotus' effect on the world had few.
Walking to school , my mates would say longingly ... 'E type' , 'Ferrari', 'Lambo'
'Porsche' , not me . I even cycled to to Hethel for a factory tour, and watched a certain
PPW306R at the flix in Norwich on the same outing.
Funds are short, desire is plenty, and swmbo coming round to the idea that
I am actually still a petrol head after an absence (bringing up kids).
So, I make no apology for enjoying the 'bang for buck' benefits of
a rust free import mk1 MX5, which will likely remain in my care till I croak.
They just work, keep you dry, keep working, handle well, cost you peanuts, and
in my opinion are a tribute to the Elan in many ways, and to the generic British
Roadster ethos.
Hope to see you soon at a show !

Hello from Texas, and welcome to the forum.
I too am, or was, Gloucester lad, from Elmore actually, so it's good to see another. There are others on the forum from not far away.
I had a Miata (MX5) once too.
