If I was having my Elan painted I think I would go for that Royal Scarlet colour which we have all seen such a lot of this week on the Queen`s 1950 Phantom IV. I think that colour is gorgeous.
What do you think.

I was in that very car a couple of weeks ago. One of some 19 made, the RR Phantom IV is very rare and they were only sold to Royalty.

Correction
That colour for the royal vehicles is Royal Claret not Royal Scarlet as I said at first.

Not newspaper just a clumsy attempt to eliminate the identity of this very valuable special addition one off seven, although I took the photo felt some responsibility toward the owner.

I recall reading, somewhere, that the claret colour the Royal Rolls Royces were painted with was reserved by Rolls for only Royal cars.
Though what would stop you doing it yourself I don't know.

Yes, I had heard that a long time ago and I have always coveted that colour. I was surprised to find what appears to be the correct paint readily available on ebay. I got close to it with a Volvo V70 D5 in `blackcurrant`. I think Volvo only used that colour for about a year in 2005. I had that car for 12 years and 150,000 miles and loved it.
