It’s very sad. The matriarch of the nation and she will be greatly missed as the pinnacle of our peoples.
I was proud to have been commissioned by her and to serve her and my country for many years.
God save the King.

Agreed. The Queen will be greatly missed - an example to us all.
As for 'God save the King', King Charles III has been given a rather inauspicious name.
King Charles I had his head chopped off, King Charles II (the Merry Monarch) apparently fathered 12 illegitimate children, and (according to Wikipedia) may have poisoned himself with DIY chemical experiments involving mercury.

Charles will have the distinction of being the only first-borne child of the deceased monarch to be crowned King of England for 200 years.
I can remember King George VI and the day he died but for three of the four friends I was with this morning Charles will be their fourth king!

Charles himself chose to be known as King Charles III, I believe.

I cant think of too many world leaders that dont have an individual agenda. Most, if not all are elected (by their peers), entitled, rich buggers. They speak for what the going thing is to get elected next time.
Proportional representation was shot down here again.
I am glad the Queen did her best, and likely a great job given the world. It’s gonna get more difficult.
I dont believe the Devine Right to lead is so much different than what happens out there.

Thanks for this Jeff.
Saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth.
A small anecdote from one of her many Canadian trips. In 1990 my 4th floor office had a perfect view of her arrival at the Palliser Hotel in downtown Calgary. A bunch of us watched as she alighted from her limo, gave the expected Royal Wave, and regally entered the front door on the freshly installed red carpet. After everyone went back to work feeling we had witnessed some small bit of history, I was amazed to see fully three Deuce and a Half army trucks arrive to unload her luggage! Beautiful steamer trunks and hat boxes by the dozen. So cool.
A few interesting factoids I learned today about a long and wonderful life of service over a long arc of history….
• She was Queen for nearly half the life of our country Canada.
• She met personally with 12 of our 22 Prime Ministers.
• She visited Canada 22 times over her reign, to every province and territory including six days flying around the high arctic.
• In 1982 she visited Ottawa to sign the patriated Canadian Constitution and enshrine the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Apparently the pen actually broke during the signing, causing our Prime Minister to loudly exclaim “Merde”. She just smiled and carried on.
Thinking of her long reign, I found the following from the Canadian Mint provided perspective. Four different images of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II have appeared over the years on Canadian coinage: 1953, 1965, 1990 and 2003. What an amazing life.

As luck would have it, today was this year's Atlanta British Car Fayre. The weather for this event is usually sunny and hot, but today it was overcast and a little drizzly, nice proper English weather!
And of course the event paid tribute. The emcee said a few good words and led a moment of silence, and there was a visual memorial too.
