Coincidently I?ve got John?s ?Bullets in the Hourglass? album in the mix playing in the garage now.

I?ve been a fan since the Trio years. When I moved to Northern California in the late seventies, I discovered that he had in-laws there and regularly appeared locally. We would go to hear him play at the Palms Playhouse in Davis, CA. The playhouse was a drafty old barn just south of Davis and it was billed as a cultural oasis. Some times John would show up with a three or four piece back up group, but usually he was alone or with bass player Dave Batti. The Palms, in Davis, closed in 2002 and moved to the Winters Opera house. John played there every year until just before his death.

We lost an underappreciated song writer and artist when he passed.
