Well this will take a little time to explain. M first Lotus was a 73 JPS Europa which I bought in 1976 and I was 22 at the time. I took me a few other Lotus before I bought an Elan. Had a 77 Esprit for a few years and then in 1981 the Elans started to be purchased. Still have the JPS and three Elans.

Nice to read all the records on purchase. Seems we are all older and enjoy the fun of the Elan!

First Elan, a S4 DHC bought in 1984 when I was 19 stretching my finances to near breaking point. The idea was good, except for the car being a burnt insurance write-off and the fact that I was about to start studying to become an engineer. The Elan had to go and I concentrated on a mix of Mini Cooper S's and 1275 GT's while studying. After graduating went through a couple of Mazda MX-5's, family cars etc.
Bought my current S3 FHC pre airflow from the SF Bay area in 2008. Really enjoying restoring the car.
Car registered early 1966 , but turns out car was produced Nov 1965 - so car is 1 month older than me! Not sure if the years has been kinder to the car

Hi there, my first S4Se DHc in UK at 19, my second S3SE FHC in Australia at 21, followed by and Elan free period and having in past 12 years bought S2 in parts, followed damaged S1 in process of assembly at moment and finally after years and lots of patience at 42 a S2 26R.

First child on the way so considering our options, +2 maybe...

Cheers

Hi All,

44 and counting...

My basket case +2S is in pieces as I only collected it in Sept last year. 2011 will be an interesting year.

Hi. Bought my basket case +2 in Nov 2001 when I was 35. Still trying to get it on the road. Progressing though. Hopefully before the 10 year anniversary.

Regards.

Sean.

27 in 1984 and still have it, every day transport for a long time, full rebuild nearing end. My first lotus was a Europa Twincam at 25(as soon as I could afford the insurance.) Then a TVR3000M, super car, but just wasn't a Lotus and after 1 year had to go to make way for the Elan. Also had 2x +2's and another Europa twincam.

I was 28 when EMA 7K came into my life. I am now 58 and we are inseperable. I will never part with her and when I die I will be buried with her!
