Club Lotus Meetings in Yorkshire

PostPost by: adigra » Sun Jul 26, 2009 3:28 pm

I've been thinking of going to one of the Yorkshire Lotus meetings. Has anyone from here been? I'm wondering if any Elans and Plus 2s show up, or if it's mostly modern stuff.

Regards,

Hi Adi

If you look on the net at http://www.nyloc.org/ north yorkshire lotus owners club they have details of their club and meets
I enquired myself just about a week ago. They meet at the Buckles Inn ( off the A64 I think) The site does not seem to say the dates
of their meets but I think they are either the 4th Tuesday/Thursday of each month. I used to be a member about 8 years ago when I had a
plus 2 s130 it was/is a very friendly club. The last time I went was about a couple of years ago and there were alot of elise members but still
a pretty strong cohort of classic boys

cheers

Hi Paul,

Thanks for that. That's the same meet that Club Lotus lists, and it's the closer one (of the two in Yorks.) to me. I like the modern Lotus nearly as much as the old stuff, but was hoping there would be at least a few classics that go so I don't feel out of place... Sounds like a good meet, I'll make my way out there as soon as my car is on the road.

As an honorary member of NYLOC, twice removed, (once for long distance and once for rowdiness) I can assure you that these blokes are among God's finest. They took me and my wife in as wandering fools and made us feel welcome when we were on our pilgrimage to Classic LeMans last year. And they have plenty of the older cars from Sevens to Elans to Europas and more, as well as newer models. I am not able to disclose however whether they consume copious amounts of distilled spirits because I cannot clearly remember.

Ann and I cannot think of a finer bunch to associate with and will gladly join them again if they'll have us. Go join them!

Hi Adi,

As a member of Nyloc myself, and having met Ross at the last Classic Le Mans, I can only say we oldies of the club are in rude health and would welcome another Classic Elan to the fold to have a nosey at. I have an Elan and an Elise as do a few more of us.
4th tuesday of the month with 25th August being the next meet. I sadly won't be able to get there until September meet (work). One of our best meeting turn out's was last August admittedly a glorious night weather wise, we had 95 Loti in the car park.
So as Ross said get yourself along when you can.

By the way, where abouts are you in West Yorkshire. I live near Barnsley.

See you,

Doug.

Hi Doug,

Sounds better and better, 95 cars is mighty impressive! I'll definitely stop by. If my car is done in time I'll try to go in August, but if not, definitely September. I'll see if my father in law, who has two Elans, will come with me as well.

I'm in Leeds (but the Elan is garaged 30 min. out of town).

All the best,

Adi,

I'm sure it doesn't matter if you don't go in your Elan - the craic is still the same.

I always turn up for our local monthly meet - but in the Elan only when its dry.
