67 + 18 = 85 :P

I'm so old, I missed this obscure relevant fun thread completely and am now a year older! In the spirit of continuing this math apptitude topic I'll admit I never thought of it before either and I'm fourteen years older than my S1.

I bought mine when I was 21 coz I loved 'em and to impress a girl - it worked!
It was 10 years old when I bought it and 10 years younger than me. It was the first one I went to see and broke down three times on the way home!

A few weeks before I took it off the road I went (raced) from lights to lights, against a 24valve Alfa Twinspark, at the third lights the young bloke wanted to know what this little thing was that had beaten him......
Looking up at him: '68 Lotus Elan.' says I.
'Bli'me!' says he, 'That must have been MENTAL fast in it's day!'
'Yep' says me and turned left, patting the dash and thanking the car for making me feel 21.

Anyway? who wants to grow up?

One of my light to light racing joys is (especially against BMw kidz)...
I DON'T HAVE TO SHIFT! I can get an honest 45mph and probably 47 from first gear. But, in the USA the lights are too close together...

Mopho,
Thanks, I think, for injecting some ET character to this forum. I was born two weeks before the Lotus Engineering Company was founded in January 1952. This means only the I, II and III predate me. I bought my +2S when I was 26 and the car was 6. I bought my Elite when I was 52 and the car was maybe 42 ("maybe" owing to the vagaries of Elite production records). At least I am converging with my cars. Maybe I should get a Rolls and give myself lots of wiggle room.

Hi

I am 4 years and one day younger than my car, if it had been on my birthday that would have been spooky

 The constant tech talk can get a bit depressing, is there life outside of working on these cars?

If I had 16 years on my 1st +2, then 20 years on my 2nd +2, 34 years on my Esprit, and now 18 years on my S4 Elan, can you work out how old this "OLD FOSSIL IS" ? 8) and the cars of course.
One clue my son was born the year of my 2nd +2 1972. OK I've told you one answer.

By the way it's good to know there is more than one "OLD FOSSIL" on this forum. Hey it's great to be younger than you think you are.

Doug.

Ed,

They say it's never too late to go back to School !! ... something I ought to consider too !

I figure you missed a divisor by 2 somewhere in the middle of those long forgotten quadratic equations you did !!!

Regards,
Stuart.
