Delamare Road yesterday and nearly fifty years ago

Hi Brian

Maybe it's time for someone that cares enough to step up and volunteer for the position of moderator that Jeff asked for back in late December of last year?

announces/behavior-issues-and-volunteer-moderators-wanted-t24297.html

I am not sure why there is a reluctance for someone to take on this position, Frank had to re-register to get back on to the forum. Maybe we need a straw poll.

To put this kind of problem on Jeff when he does not have the time to devote to this forum now just seems dumb. Any body want to step up

Volunteer Moderators Wanted
Because LotusElan.net is a 24 hour pub, I am looking for volunteers to be moderators that can help ensure we follow these guidelines. I am not available to monitor the boards every hour of every day.

To be considered for a moderator position, the following qualifications must be met:

-Someone who has a minimum post count of 150 and no less than three (3) community member referrals.
-Someone who will use sound judgment when dealing with forum issues.
-Someone who will remain neutral and won't take sides when intervening in a "heated" topic.
-Someone who will treat all members equally and fairly, and won't show favoritism when having to deal with or take action on a particular issue.
-Someone who will be responsive to member complaints, concerns, and/or questions.
-Someone who can keep their cool during tense situations.
-Someone who has not been banned or reprimanded in the last 12 months.

If you are interested in being a moderator, please send me a PM. Please indicate your experience and why you would like to be a moderator.

She has asked me to say that she will contact people who have have sent her PM?s with answers when she gets logged on again.

Isn't a moderator different from an administrator? We need someone who has full admin rights to the server.

As far as I am aware, Jeff has not been in contact since March so even if anyone volunteered there's no way to promote him/her.

Moderators can't usually sort out password problems, only administrators can do that, but most forum systems have an automatic method for a member to define a new password if it is forgotten.

Hi Everyone - I am finally back :) I am now Maureen B-N which stands for Maureen Blackwell-Nieuwoudt which is the name I use, although not my legal name since I re-married (again !). Anyway, great to be back.

Brian - thank you so much for all your assistance.

Ed - thank you for the long and amusing post about your cars, your (ghastly) weather conditions, and your gorgeous grand children. I have no grand children (one son with a career wife !) which is a great sadness in my life.

Enquiries about the book - well I have only just got to the point where I am about to meet Ron Hickman and get the job. Yip, pathetic I know, but if my Muse is not around nothing happens. And I am quite busy (actually that is not true, I just spend far too much time at the gym). But I WILL get there ! Might post what I have so far on the site - what do you think guys ? Then you could perhaps let me know if you think it is worth carrying on. BTW I do not smoke any longer (I seem to be lighting a lot of cigarettes in the writing so far !). In those days everyone smoked - including Ron Hickman (and James Bond).

I received a nice parcel and note from Clive Chapman (with signature !) for the pictures I sent to him - two posters, one of drivers' helmets and one of the classic Lotus race cars. I thought that was a very nice gesture.

Elan owners do it with 'flair' (sorry, couldn't resist) !! Cheers, M B-N

oh yes ---the garage has always been for race cars sports cars and project cars ----here the slop that builds up under fenders and under the car in winter just stays semi slush and the salt works in the garage ---outside it freezes solid and that slows the cancer rot on the body --- in summer ====well street cars in the garage just don't happen---nor does anything pink........except my Grand daughter ...Ed

It all sounds extremely cold and horrendous. I don't suppose you need aircon in your vehicles, just heaters. Other way around here - I wouldn't like my car to stand outside getting a sun tan and melting inside ...

Oh we need air in the cars here in Niagara for a month and a half as it gets too hot in July and part of August , then it ranges from 70 degrees to -15 f fall. Winter and Spring It has been said there are just 2 seasons here ...Winter and July....But with indoor arenas we can play hockey most of the year including summer. Canada s main population is only about 50 miles deep from the US border . The rest is mostly bush in Ontario and plains in the West . You can go 70 miles north and get eaten by a bear . :| .....ed

I've just to Delamare Road of Google Earth Street View. What a shock ! It's so built up. Used to be a quiet little side street in a small industrial area. Now it is barely recognisable.

What used to the 'Team Lotus' is now a gym  This is sad.

Cooling rooms ! I thought Canada was cold anyway without having to manufacture it. Presume you have good anti-freeze for your vehicles ...
