R - the snowfall was ages ago ! It was only a few flakes and didn't stay on the ground until lunch time. Summer now - hot days and lovely cooling electric storms at night ! I'll try to get you a picture of the snow !

Maureen,

Ed lives in the great frozen north called Canada and plays hockey on the frozen lakes there from September through May so from his point of view this is called humor (or humour for you) hence the smiley face at the end. I don't think he was disputing your facts, rather just being our favorite ed :D :D

Oh I didn't think he was disputing the facts. And I definitely was not upset. Any more snow than that (only the second lot I have seen in the 39 years I've been here) and I would have been off to a warmer place :D I really don't like cold weather. BTW that little bit of snow was enough to send the 'locals' into the street, away from their work places, because it is so rare to see here ! How does the Elan stand up in the frozen North Ed ?

too much salt on the road to dissolve the chassis in winter and lots of RRRRRR RRRRRR RRR RRRR RRRER put put bizzz rrrr rrrr rrr put bizzzzz below 40 deegrees F so it stays in the garage much --and 4 inch ground clearance in 13 inch snow fall makes handling a bit strange --but I get to work on it a lot and for the 2 days of summer we get when the ponds thaw its good :( ed

That's real dedication - it must be in immaculate condition. I saw an Elan and a Seven a few weeks back, rotting in a garden near my house. So sad .....

4 British cars Ive had beginning in 1984 , the 1965 re chassied super 7 a 1961 sprite the 1970 europa and the 1964 Elan [see the 26r thread ] all the Brit cars were throw away cars on which I didn't spend over $5000 . .They were disassembled or in the previous owners way in various states of disrepair I restored a 79 1275 tricked out mini Cooper for my son and a 64 VW bug with a KILLER motor for my daughter .I made sure both kids went to the BP skid school and a regular driver school and they both had 2 all day sessions on the local small paved rent a race track where I taught them proper race car driving technique . Both sold their cars needlessly when they got married , pressure from their mates I guess. Neither showed any inclination for repair or maintenance of their cars ' thats what dads do ---Dad can it be ready by 5 as I have a date ?'----The formula car is at the race shop waiting to be sold and the saturn is for winter The tons of salt put on the roads to melt the snow and ice in winter here just dissolve the metal on all cars , in 3 or 4 years rust is evident on all cars driven daily here .The Chebby Malibu is for long distance travel . Before that I drank chianti and drove Italian cars , Fiat and Alpha looking quite dapper with an over the shoulder white silk scarf and loafers until the police made me wear trousers and a shirt too . 8) --hows the book going??--ed--the grand children appear to carry on from me --poor spellers of the world untie

Dear all,

Have a look at this months Practical Classics, a rather lovely S3 S/E dhc is driven from Cheshunt to Hethel along the old A11.

A couple of nice pictures of the old factory, which it seems is now owned by Plastek 'a manufacturer of polythene bags for posting things in'

Just a note here to say Maureen has some problems with her password and cannot log on, she has tried to contact Jeff to sort it out but has been unsuccessful so far and may have to re-register.
She has asked me to say that she will contact people who have have sent her PM?s with answers when she gets logged on again.
