I've had my Workmate from about 1974 Christmas present. So it's done very good service and deserves a good Facelift. It's the one with the Alloy frames.
Does anyone here know where i can get new wooden/tufnol Jaws/Clamps.
Also what Blue paint to use otherwise i'll get it painted in Lagoon Blue.
After all the same designer as the Elan.
Alan
Just found out Type3 1975 made in Ireland about 2% of total production.

Rebuilt my first Twincam on a Workmate. Did not know who designed it back then . That old Workmate dissapeared in house moves many years ago but recently found a new old one in my wifes fathers house in perfect condition in Germany... brought a smile to my face.
cheers

Heading to Germany for a while in 2 weeks time. Working on house rennovations there so it comes in handy. I have a huge basement workshop with plenty of room . Wish I had the same in Australia but getting a finished engine out would be a bit of a challenge . Maybe I should build a few engines over there as the market for Twincams is pretty good in Europe
cheers

I got one from my father inlaw when he downsized. Mostly used it for repairs on 5 speed gearboxes. This last time I made up a platform with hole for 5th gear detent nut and drain holes and lower section for clamping it into the workmate. Works well and you can just strap the box down to the work mate for undoing the shaft retaining nuts (~150lb/ft!).

Thanks,
Just need to strip it down. Good sandblasting. Antirust and paint.

It's in a sorry state at the moment.
Strip down and sandblast. New Jaws as one was replace with a bit i wood i found years ago. The second is worse for wear.
Nex screw-in feet needed. Also special screw for jaw. But not too bad for it's age.

That is a very beautiful Workmate. I have collected a number of the model 325's from UK ebay as they are much lighter than the more common ones. Ron added lots of lightness on that one! I have two very pretty model E's (for English), which were the same bench rebadged for sale in Canada and some northern states. The ugly ones work in the ship. The pretty ones go in the house with glass tops clamped in the jaws for holding a beer or two. John
