Mark Sanders - Lotus Elan Electric Conversion

Hello everyone
Interesting but rather untechnical video on a conversion using Tesla equipment:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCH5-DuCY1U
The sensible point made is that the car uses mostly energy from PV panels - as we all know many electric cars use power from electrical utilities which themselves create CO2...which rather defeats the original idea.

Thanks for posting this, an interesting conversion, although I would like to seen more of the technical detail. As he says, it’ll be a real Marmite for Elan owners!

There is a quite comprehensive report on the building and conversion of this car on this forum.
search for `electric elan` or Lotus ELON. to find out more.

Thanks Eric
I did run a quick check before posting but could not find it!
Looks an interesting project. Harry Metcalfe has done an interesting series of videos on electric cars.
I'm waiting for him to do the bit on Lithium mining by slave labour....

Yep, we had exactly the same conversation at home last week, although the slave labour, I understand, is child slave labour....

For some more background on this debate...(my position is that I'm all for non-polluting efficiency and it is just a technical subject as how we get there):

There was another thread about this 'The Elephant in the room'. Harry's conclusions are probably correct, but his maths is a bit suspect.
