You do nice work on those tool rolls.
I recently found this rust-laden set tucked away in a corner of my trunk under a piece of carpeting. What identifying marks should I look for to evaluate whether original or replacement? Any tips on rust removal, cleaning and restoration? Worth doing? They seem pretty solid.

Finally got them cleaned up and the adjustable working through its range. For the moment they are coated in Boshield to prevent rusting. What is the proper way to finish them?

Not saying it's correct but it does look good - paint the spanners Satin black and once dry polish off the flat faces maybe leaving a light grain using sand paper, polish the flat of the pliers too, the screwdriver again black but polish the linished ends, I think the box spanner and Tommy bar could be silver or black.
Btw still have toolkit/tool rolls still available!
Henry posting a photo of his original tool roll gives me the opportunity to post a photo of my replica which I think demonstrates how accurate it is:

I don't think the idea is to use the tools, just have them for collectability etc...

As many may have noticed I?ve been selling these for a while now. They seem to have been well received. Anyway a heads up - I?m down to my last 2 sets and once they?re gone they?re gone. There?s one on eBay if you?d rather look there.
Just for a laugh I thought I?d post the photo of the kits before I started selling them!

Snigger! Took a lot of work Nic.
Btw.. I haven?t tried it myself but if you like a more patinated look to the hessian you put a little undiluted tea on it though whether this would affect the glue holding the hessian to the vinyl I don?t know.

Not making anymore as it was a pita! Once the kits are all sold I will sell off the few toolrolls I have left over.

I have a set that graces the boot of my S4, everyone who see's them remarks on them. Wow! is a common reaction.
Kindest regards

Well Steve, if the kits run out, and there are rolls leftover, I would love to have one.

my very original tool kit that came with the car from the original owner shows the fat round lug wrench as black, not silver. See pix below:
