Steve Wilson posted this link over on the Yahoo Europa group. It explains a lot of technical details on fasteners. Might come in handy when looking to upgrade some of the DPO square nuts that you may find when you rebuild your Elan someday. It looks like a lot of the same material that is contained in the Aircraft-Spruce catalog but is 98 pages, seems to cover a lot of different systems

There are a huge number of fasteners and special items that are used
in the aircraft field that can be adapted to automotive uses, one of the handiest
things I find is the rivnuts or nutserts...ij other words a blind or captive nut
inserted in a place where it is difficult to get a socket or spanner, and there's
no shortage of those on an elan in various spots around the body.
