Ignition timing light

No particular recommendation, but suggest you go with a named supplier rather than a Chinese copy, also one that has an inductive lead and bright xenon light, some allow you to set the timing even if the engine has no degree marks on it, as long as it has a TDC mark. A reasonably priced one will be around £50

Try and get yourself one that has a knob where you can change the timing of the flash relative to the signal from the inductive pickup. By adjusting the knob at any given set engine speed so the timing marks appear to line up at TDC you can then get a direct reading from the dial on the timing light itself of the actual ignition advance.

Hi Dave,
Very happy with my Innova 5568.

This model has a “dial back” feature referred to as “advance” in the user manual. This is the feature to which 2cams70 is referring.

Cheers,
