Elan centre lock wheel nuts - where can I buy a set

PostPost by: McFast » Mon Jan 15, 2024 11:25 pm

Hi,

I Have only found one supplier online selling the elan centre lock wheel nuts (Tony Thompson Racing). Does anyone know of other vendors.

Is there any advantage/disadvantage of nuts over 3 eared spinners ?

I think the only advantage with nuts is you tighten them with a special tool that's lighter than the lead mallet used to tighten 3 eared spinners. I imagine there is less potential to damage a nut than a spinner. Having said that, there are special tools for spinners that have the same effect.

FWIW I prefer the look of the spinners.

Apart from Tony Thompson Racing who you've already found there are four main suppliers of parts for the Elan in the UK:-

S J Sportscars https://www.sjsportscars.com/

Classic Team Lotus https://www.parts.classicteamlotus.co.uk/

Kelvedon Lotus https://kelvedonlotus.co.uk/

Sue Miller http://www.mickmillerlotus.com/intro.html

Some of the Elan suspension and steering parts are from Triumph Herald/Spitfire and there are a couple of suppliers for those parts which can be useful too:

Rimmer Bros https://rimmerbros.com/Category--Triumph-Car-Parts--

Canley Classics https://www.canleyclassics.com/?canvas=home

Three eared spinners are listed as UK only in the Parts List and the nuts for all other countries.
