Plus 2 pedal box disassembly

Sorry for another Plus 2 pedal box post but it looks like I'll need to remove the pivot rod to free up the seized brake and clutch pedals. If anyone has done this before, do I need to grind off the welded washers at both ends of the rod?

Hi There

The washers are welded to the sides of the pedal box simply to provide reinforcement. The pivot pin should slide through the box and be secured with split pins.

Thanks, both split pins are removed so a bit of persuasion seems to be required. The brake and clutch pedals are frozen together but rotate freely on the shaft,
