Rear shock "guts" removal

Hi,
I have an original rear strut (pre-shock absorber insert). But I can't budge the "piston" rod.
The gland nut has been removed along with the rubber gland and the thin metal spring washers.
Any top tips for moving the "outer tube oil sealing ring" ?
The thread on the piston is larger than the thread on my TTR inserts on my +2 about to get my calipers out to try and figure out what thread it would be.
See attached pictures.
Cheers,
Innes

After several days of soaking in penetrating oil I plucked up some courage got out the BFH and set to work. A tediously long time to budge it but eventually I was victorious. A couple skinned knuckles for good luck along the way.
Perhaps anybody can advise from the attached pictures whether it is the guts from the original shock (from the time of pre-insert when the shock tube was the "shock") or if it is an "insert".
Certainly it isn't the sealed unit type, from the bottom you can see the bottom of the moving piston.
Apologies Rich the gland nut was a red herring, I couldn't find where I had put the other one and had an old koni/TTR one kicking about for a pretty picture. Are your shocks sealed unit inserts?
Cheers,
Innes
