Blockley tyres for a Plus 2

PostPost by: Bigbaldybloke » Tue Sep 18, 2018 4:05 pm

Has anyone tried the Blockley 165 x 13 V rated radial tyres on a plus 2
I?m not interested in people telling me to fit Michelin xas tyres or Pirelli cn36, I?ve read all the comments on here about their merits, I?m interested in any experience people have actually using the Blockley tyres

There?s some info on this short thread:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/top ... &t=1338896

Why not contact Dougal on here who owns Longstone Tyres I?m sure he?d be helpful.

I don't think Longstone deal with Blockleys/Majzub

I've had them on mine for a couple of months and I've nothing but positive things to say about them. Low speed steering had been transformed as the previous tyres were 185/70R13 and the steering wheel is a smaller-than-original Momo - it used to be hard work to steer. At speed they feel secure and predictable. They look perfect on the car, they were manufactured this year and they cost a fraction of the price of the viable alternatives. As an added bonus, the people at Blockley are a pleasure to deal with - especially the proprietor, Julian Majzub.

As far as I'm concerned they are the only sensible choice for anyone with a +2 running original-sized wheels.

Hope that helps.

Note that they are speed-rated "H" rather than "V". I don't think they do a V rated tyre in that size.

Imho "H" is ok to 130MPH. I've had 3 different +2 Elans and never had more than about 115 MPH out of them.

I believe original spec was H rated anyway, I just didn?t want the T rating that everyone kept offering me

It was, yes.

If you want the original size and speed rating and you don't want to pay over ?200 a corner, then the Blockleys are the only option.
