Springs & Shocks (Dampers) for an Elan Spyder Chassis

PostPost by: zog » Wed Aug 23, 2017 11:50 am

I'm in the process of putting an NOS Spyder chassis under my S1 Elan ex-autocross car. The chassis came complete with suspension bits and a set of springs and shocks. Since they are really old, I am planning on replacing the shocks with new ones. I'm not sure what the spring rates are on the springs that came with the chassis. Any ideas? I want to go up one step from the stock set up but not as stiff as I had with my stock chassis when I used to Autocross the car. Also looking for ideas on where to get new rear shocks. These are the long ones that go with the Spyder RSC suspension, not the strut kind that screw into the tubes.

Thanks!

Bob,

Either email or call Spyder (they are 6 hours ahead of you so if you call by 10AM you will catch them) and ask for Andy if he doesn't answer the phone which he likely will. He is a walking encyclopedia of Spyder stuff and very willing to help.
