Interesting period +2 alloy.

Apologies if this photo has been posted before, have just come across it when searching for +2 images.

It appears to be a US advertising or launch brochure and shows a +2 with a good looking set of period alloys I've never seen on a +2 before, although they do remind me of something else of the period; can't think what. :?

I assumed they're aftermarket wheels, but that seems strange on a brochure? Were the US spec cars issued with a different alloy wheel option to the UK?

I have not seen a Federal car with the alloy wheels used on the 130/4 or 130/5 in the rest of the world. I wonder why they were not sold with them?

Very interesting photo, I have not seen this before. I guess it might be a US federal market +2 given the eight-sided "Nader" wheel nuts. The model is obscuring much of what I would like to see on the fascia. The side marker lamp on the rear flank is in a very low position compared that on other federal +2s, perhaps an early one?

There have been a few threads including the JAP Magna wheels:

I have two sets, the silver ones (which were originally as in the OP's picture, black and bright alloy) were on my S2 as purchased.

Well, that's them to be sure. If the photo does originate from a sales promo (judging from the lack of licence plate) it does seem very odd to have a car displayed with a set of aftermarket alloys, attractive though they are. :?
