Master Cylinder retaining ring

PostPost by: Briggs1 » Sat Jul 09, 2016 10:10 pm

I want to remove the reservoir from my dual circuit master cylinder.

Looking for accurate dimension of the split ring from the top edge of the front.

I've done this before by drilling a small hole and using a dremel tool with a very small grinding wheel to split the retaining ring.

I just do not recall the distance to drill the hole. (My recollection is about .090" to .100")

I had one the shelf that was drilled but alas, that went with a bunch of Europa bits last summer :(

Anyone know for certain?

thanks in advance.

I have never needed more than take out the back screws, then steady levering to get the reservoir off.

Done it a few times without problem.
