rear struts question

I am fitting some Sue Miller rear drive shafts to my Elan Sprint and I have been advised to fit limited travel rear strut inserts. My car had new inserts fitted by the previous owner shortly before I bought the car, so it seem a shame to change them if not absolutely necessary.
They are Koni inserts its says adjustable on the tube although it's not obvious how they adjust,
I have measured my existing ones and fully extended measuring from the top of the painted section to the tip of the shaft measures 27.5cm.
How can I check to see if the ones I have are already limited travel inserts? Can anyone advise whether they are OK to use or not

Fit the drive shaft, raise the road wheel off the ground and turn it by hand. If it locks up you need to reduce the droop angle (i.e. fit shorter throw dampers)
It sounds like you have the standard length struts, my old Armstrong struts are approx 11" from the top of the tube nut to the end of the chrome rod.

Besides locking the joint, with the longer struts you risk tearing the dust boots every time you jack the car. I tore mine twice in a row.
