Paint Recommendation for S3 Knock on Wheels?

PostPost by: Stevie-Heathie » Sun Feb 28, 2016 5:58 pm

Hi Folks

I think I'll give my S3's wheels some tlc next weekend. They're looking a bit tatty with some dots of surface rust.

Brian Buckland says you will be amazed at the finish you will get from shot blasting then DIY spray cans of primer, undercoat, chrome silver and a clear laquer top coat. Colour should be same as the bumpers.

However for just a quick tart-up - i.e. light sand by hand then a coat of paint over the top - what's the consensus on the best paint to use?

I'm a fan of smooth Hammerite on painted wheels so will go that way unless you guys know better.

Cheers,
Steve

and i used duplicolor both silver and the clear canned varnish: you need to take care of the corrosion first of all, i wet-sanded them down to 600! cheers and good luck sandy

Do you have silver Bumpers? If so may be worth getting some aerosols in the same colour.

BTW Shot blasting is the future  makes life so much easier but if you go this route make sure you use some good etch primer.
