AVO rear damper insert

Hello,
I recently fitted new rear springs and dampers to my Plus 2. I find that after a day or so the dampers stop working completely, and need some serious bouncing on the rear wings to get them going again. Simply driving the car (normally!) doesn't generate enough movement and the suspension just bounces and bangs about. This can't be correct, but i do remember reading on this forum that it is normal for the dampers to need a few strokes to get them primed - unfortunatley i can't find that thread now. Could this just be a symptom of new inserts and perhaps they take a while to bed in, or does it sound like they are both faulty??
I should say that once primed they are absolutely fine and drive perfectly well.
Thanks for any comments.

Two years ago I ordered new AVO shocks for the front..............they both leaked. Sent em' back.
Yes, if the car hasn't moved in the day or two you will be get bounce for the first or second push down. But after that it should firm up right away.
