Master cylinder

PostPost by: Europatc » Tue Aug 12, 2014 9:17 pm

Good evening all, I contacted a well known provider of brake parts to day to purchase a brake master cylinder. I was told that they are currently out of stock. Apparently the company that provides the castings have gone into liquidation. I was also told that another company is looking to take over the manufacturing. I was able to source one else where, but if its a job that you are intending to do in the near future it may be worth sourcing the part now. only a thought
all the best

Not certain if they are the same (but think they are) I have just ordered 2 Girling 5/8" for my Seven
from www.guysmithmotorsport.com (Guy Smith Motor Sports).

Hi
Not sure where that comes from but the OE supplier is Girling / TRW definitely not in liquidation.

Kev, If you ordered on line from Guy Smith I would advise ringing and confirming the order.
I rang and he told me he had problems with his net connection. No problem with the order although I have not received it yet. I rang on 15.08 so expect delivery next week.

Thanks Rae, I'll do that. I ordered through my tablet but found it the slowest site ever and set up mostly for PayPal. Must say though, excellent value but, because of this -
* Just spoke this morning and he seems to be struggling with M/C orders and may have to refund due to so many enquiries and stock levels :(
Regards,
Kev.

Thanks Kev
I hope he managed to get my 2 away before all these enquiries!! Maybe I should have waited until I received mine before posting

I have just received a refund too. Strangely he had them in stock when I rang last week.
Now no stock and supplier has increased the price??

Willwood master cylinders are available, don't know anything about them but they are a reasonable price.

Had no problems with Willwood cylinders, have been using them for about 15 years without a failure usually next day delivery from Rally Design who are the UK importers.

Iain,
What, if any differences are there from the Girlings? Are the mount holes the same and do you just swap the push rods?

Do you have a Willwood part number for the MC ?
Is it single or dual Circuit?

Thanks

James
they are single for a bias pedal box. the integrated reservoir have the same 2.25" pitch mount holes which I believe is correct.

Thanks, I couldn't find it on the Willwood site here in the US. MK1 is going ok, I could be faster getting in to it.
Main thing now is, I have a plan and with the help of some members here know what I need to do.
I am becoming an excellent grinder... Not so much with the welding however.
Thanks for asking
