Rear bump stops

PostPost by: thorbs000 » Sun Nov 17, 2013 10:36 am

Hi all

Has anybody fit powerflex bump stops?
I am re building the rear suspension and the new bumps stops won't go onto the the new strut. The struts are tony Thompson. Do I have the force them on?
I have measured the dia of the strut and it's about 22mm and the bump stop is 20.2
Any photos would be most grateful

Cheers ian

The original Aeon rubber springs are more than just bump stops and are an integral part of the suspension design. I believe they are now available again ( contact Jeff at JAE). I would use these rather than the ones you show that don't fit.

Ian,

Just force them on, I believe some people use two sets to reflect the original bump stops length, I do not know if its necessary and I just stuck with the one set that TT supplies.

As per Rohan's suggestion I was going to use the original bump stops but i found they would note fit the 2.25 TT springs.

Yes that's why I use a slightly bigger ID rear spring. It is also more stable and has less tendency to buckle like the typical 2.25 inch one does due to it higher diameter to length ratio.
