Lock Nuts for Front Suspension

Where in the US can I buy new low profile lock nuts? The studs that the A-arms pivot on are not very long and the lock nuts that I can buy locally are too tall (see photo). Image

I believe R.D. Enterprises carried them, but I don't see them on the website any more. I think I bought a set of them, but they stripped pretty easily.

Ray has half nuts, which work fine. They leave room for a washer.

I think they are referred to as P type in the UK the lower Nylocks think they are 1/2 inch UNF from memory

I got mine from McMaster Carr. Their part number 94945A225, $6.47 for 5. Grade 8, 1/2-20.

Leaves plenty of room for an SAE washer.

I have yet to find a piece of hardware that Fastenal could not supply. I have used them for big marine applications and AC&R work for years. Great products, and good counter service. They are a bit more expensive than McMaster but in my experience they have always been worth it.

Agree that Fastenal is great. I had forgot about them.

Their branches are located in most cities, usually in industrial areas they serve.
There is no cure for Lotus, only treatment.

I don't know for sure if they have these nuts but another source for mil-spec hardware here in the states is the Bon Aero division of Dave Bean. The link is at the bottom of their main page.

+1 on McMaster Carr, pretty much sourced all the bolts and fasteners I needed on my S4 rebuild. Plus if you put the order in early enough, you get it the next day, The only problem I have is always forgetting something I should have ordered after pressing the confirm button lol.

Just going through old Threads looking for some thing else but just seen this one.

I had a problem with the right Nuts too but a friend owns a Triumph Motorbike main dealer, he told me those 1/2 Unf T-Type nuts are commonly used on old Triumph motorbikes and are easy to get through Classic bike specialists.

These are the ones he supplied me (Centre) the Original one is Grey (right) and the last is a full nut (Left) for comparison.
