Bearing assembly in rear hubs

Does the inner bearing [type 18 with wide bearing] go with the protuding inner part facing into the housing? cheers, John.

Yes,and don't forget to trim the protruding rubber seal,it stops the cover-plate fitting in the housing,mine was rusted through so replaced with a plastic one (Blue Peter washing-up bottle)

Hi John, is the coverplate a circular tinplate dirtshield? I have heard about these but have yet to see one. Is this what you replaced? cheers, John.
