Elan hubs - difference between elan and elan plus 2 hubs?

I have bolt on hubs at the moment but looking at swapping to knock on's.
I have been offered knock on hubs but the donor is unsure if they are from an elan or a plus 2, is there any difference and if so how do I tell the difference?

Yes the rear hubs are different. I recall some photos comparing the 2 were posted a while ago - a search may find it.
The front assembly is different to accomodate the bigger brakes but not sure if the hub section itself is the same or not on the Knock on Elans versus Plus2
cheers

elan-plus-f13/knock-conversion-bolt-t13786.html
The rear hubs have cast numbers on the back side of the hub. For the Plus2, they will be 50 D 063 or 064 (depending on which side) and the Elans will be 36 D063 or 064. Each hub will have both 063 and 064 with one number being ground off, maybe not entirely.
I normally get rid oif the knock ons and go with bolt on, different tastes I guess.

thanks for the tips, appears that I have the Plus 2 rear hubs.... damn. Looks like the difference is that the hub thickness is 7/8 inch thicker so guessing teh wheels would be 7/8" further out than normal.
Anyone know how hard the elan hubs are to source? haven't tried the usual places yet.

Very hard to find in the usual places - maybe because they're not a regularly replaced item, but asking about on this forum found me a set in the back of someone's shed when I was hunting. Best of luck.

TTR again, not cheap, especially if shipping across the world: http://www.tonythompsonracing.co.uk/pricelist-2009.pdf (item TTRHU 008)

I can help with a set of hubs, I'm in Auckland NZ so a little closer than most of the world.
I'm not sure how to communicate offline, it's an age thing I think.

See the "PM" button on the lower left of the posting? That's for Private Message and it works! Not an age thing - just needs someone to let you know it's there. If you ask the same question again - now that would be an age thing!!!

i have a plus 2 that has knock on wheels,as one fell off im looking at swaping to bolt on hubs, does anyone have any info on this as im thinking its impossable.the reason is it seems the rear set up is not a straight swap with the baby elan's where as the front is a swap for the relevent triumph components. if some one can help id appreciate it loads

My understanding with the rears is:-
Plus 2 hubs are 7/8" thicker so the offset would be different.
Axles on Plus 2 are different so would need to change these too.
No doubt this will be corrected by someone who has actually done the swp but this is my understanding and happy to be corrected

What is the difference between "elan" and "Plus2" axles?...are they 7/8" longer to accommodate the larger hubs?

I don't wanna sound like Bill Clinton here but are you guys talking about half shafts or the stub axles?
I believe,
and just like Bill I could be dead wrong,
proper spacers on the hubs could allieviate the seven eighths addition.
Does anyone out there have bolt on wheels on their +2 ?
