Replacement Brake Disks

PostPost by: rgh0 » Thu Sep 20, 2007 1:01 pm

I have used a number of types of disks in the last few years on my competition Elan from EBC and Brembo and life has been very short.

In my historic racing class I have to use the original size disks and calipers and they get worked very hard with disk temperatures up around 600C.

A year ago I talked to a small specialist company in South Aftrica called Powerbrake based on a recommendation from a guy who worked with Bendix in Australia ( see their web site powerbrake.com.za). They had never made Elan disks before but happily made me a set in their "diehard 11" material and recommended the pads that they have dyno tested with their disks that would be suitable for my application.

The disks have shown virtually zero wear and no distortion in the last year when my last sets of EBC and Brembo disks where worn out and starting to warp in the same time. The recommend disk pad combination also provided outstanding brake performance.

A car set of 2 front and 2 rear disks was about 6000 Rand delivered by surface mail in Australia ( equivalent to A$1000, US$800, GBP 400) so the price is competitve to what the normal suppliers have considering the quality.

No financial interest just a very satisfied customer

cheers

On the basis of your standing in this forum Rohan I reckon they will now do some extra business,so you should hit them up for a free set.... :)
