following on the conversation about bleeding brakes I was wondering what the concensus was on using standard rubber hoses as opposed to the braided stainless ones?
Did I read somewhere that stainless braided were not leagal for road use?

Hi,
Don't know about the usa but in the UK / Europe they are legal but in places like Germany they have to be crimped for road use.
There are no negatives except cost

Rubber brake hoses will swell slightly under pressure and give a softer pedal feel. Braided hoses do not swell and give a firmer feel and are much to be prefered. They are street legal in the US.

I changed from rubber to braided on a motorcycle a few years ago and was very happy with the results.
