If it turns out you need a replacement diff, I have a spare 3.77 one in good, quiet-running condition which I took out of my car when I replaced it with a 3.54. PM me if interested. Good luck with identifying the problem, whatever it turns out to be.

Getting more interesting this.. You are getting there I thought. Then you tell us the prop does not turn when rotating rear wheel!
!! That sounds like a problem to me..... No ifs or butts..The prop MUST turn for you to be able to rotate a rear wheel. If you can turn one wheel when the other is still on the ground and the prop does not turn.The problem is on the rear axle. If the prop turns and the car's in gear then the issue is the clutch probably. Poss' gearbox issue but more likely the clutch.
