The Elan knock-on wheels use no splines, they make use of five radial spaced pegs on the hub that insert into the "peg holes". take a look at these photos and show them to you wheel man Terry.

Minilite still make their wheels with a Lotus 5 peg drive option. As they are the original manufactures they can make almost whatever you want e.g. a 14 inch version. They are available in both aluminium and magnesium.

As for tyres I have yet to find anything better than the Michelin XAS FF in 155x13. Expensive for sure but you what what you pay for.
