Broken rear shock mount

Reading this post has made me re-visit the rear suspension I just built up on my new chassis! I see the setup is rather poor really in that there is only a 1.5mm circle of the steel spring platform to stop the damper rod punching through!
The original lotacones were better than the new ones in that the central hole is smaller but, it?s still bigger than the 3/4? damper rod so, it could get punched through? That said it was ok when I took it apart but, maybe with stiffer adjustable dampers in the rebuild it won?t last?
I would have thought they could have made the central hole 3/4? for far more strength? I will see what Sue Miller Lotacones shape up like!

The thickness-hardness of the spring seat is also factor in resistance.

Thick washers with a close fit to the shock thread diameter are what I have. DB supplied them many moon ago.
