The OP is prepared to consider Michelin XAS and if maintaining original feel, weight and balance is important then that's probably the way to go.
Definitely not cheap but the right construction to match suspension geometry and modern rubber compound specified for French Formula Ford.
About the same price per corner as a set of Kumhos but . . .
