Hello
Can any help with handbrake cable routing and the manner in which the handbrake mechanism is mounted under the dashboard in a Series 2 RHD Elan? Thank you.

I have just completed the installation of my handbrake on my S2.
The "umbrella" handbrake has a small "u" shaped bracket welded to the outer case, this is fixed with one bolt to the underside of the fibreglass pedal box. The top of the bolt is accessible from above the pedal box via the engine bay.
The outlet end of the HB locates into an appropriate sizes hole in the vertical fire wall, with a suitable grommet.
The outer cable then extends in a quite tight radius end under the carbs to a stop hole bracket in the side of the chassis tail, adjacent the approximate position of the bell housing engine joint, again on the RHS.
I'll attempt to take a picture tomorrow and post it for you.
On the S2 there wasn't an handbrake warning light on the early cars ( I believe, but will stand corrected !)
Hope this helps,
Phil.

Hi Phillip
Handbrake now installed, thanks for your help. I inherited this project that some else had started and had routed the handbrake cable through a hole to the left of the pedals. I re-routed the cable and found the appropriate holes and mechanism is now installed. Thanks again.

Leigh.
