AVO UK in Liquidation

PostPost by: alanr » Tue Jan 09, 2024 1:33 pm

I see that AVO UK the shock absorber manufacturer went into liquidation in Novermber 2023.
I personally never rated AVO shock absorbers anyway but having one less option for buying shock absorbers in the marketplace is never good.

I'm not entirely surprised if my experience of their customer service is anything to go by. And their units were garbage IMO

Just had the rear AVO dampers on my Caterham refurbished by the new owners Turbotechnics. Vastly improved customer service and rapid turnaround.

I hope they supply only the redesigned bushes and not the red rubbish that crumbled before.

Alan TBH the red polybushes and bump stops were fine on mine, about 7 years old, admittedly quite a low mileage, though. The dampers only went back as one had started with a slight leak at the tail end of last season. They have replaced all bushes and the bump stops in addition to both rebuilds. The new company seems a marked improvement. At the end of the day they are a budget product - I need to save up for some proper quality dampers!

This is what they were like. I admit they changed them for heavy duty black which seem ok. But the red ones tbh to me are sadly a bad design.
