+2 Wheel trims

PostPost by: alanr » Thu Feb 10, 2022 3:31 pm

I have been searching for a while for some deep wheel trims, rimbellishers, beauty rings or whatever you want to call them, to fit on standard 13inch +2 S130 black steel wheels.
Sue Miller and others etc can supply for an Elan which obviously has the narrower 5J rims, but not +2 rims, which are 5.5J. If they are not deep enough for the rim my fear is they just won't look right.
Does anyone know where I can get deep 13inch Chrome or Stainless rimbellishers for a +2 please?

Thanks,

Alan.
P.S. Yes I know the real answer is to buy some expensive alloys but finances at the moment won't run to it!

I have 4 of these which came with my 1970 Plus 2 S years ago.

Quite a few light surface scratches otherwise very sound and straight - stainless steel

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the offer...appreciated!
They are certainly the correct depth I am looking for but I am a bit put off by the scratches. Ideally I really wanted new ones to fit on my newly repainted rims.
However I know beggars can't always be choosers so I may end up coming back to you if that is ok?

Thanks again,

Alan.

Alan,

As these rim belishers are stainless it should be possible to have the scratches polished out. I imagine that as you are in Derby you should be able to find a metal polishing company nearby.

Hope this helps,

It is certainly an Idea...I will make some enquiries as to the cost involved.

Thanks for the push Richard and Phil! I have now agreed to buy the trims from Jon.
I do sometimes tend to have blinkered vision on having things just perfect but now having thought about it I am sure one way or another I can get them up to my finicky standard! :D

The early +2S130 like the +2S were black and the Rims of the Wheels were Chromed
NO Wheel Trims.
Wheel Trims on black Wheels were only on Sprints.
As far as i understand or am i mistaken.

Yes Alan I am completely aware of that on the +2S130.
However some of the chrome on the outer rims on my car are in less than perfect condition and my quest to source good condition replacements has failed hence my alternative solution now is to paint the centre of the wheel black as original and fit chrome/stainless type trims.
You cannot get the outer part of the wheel rims re-chromed or at least i have not found a company that can do it. Marque Rechroming in Coventry used to do it on E-type rims but they tell me that it didn't prove successful and no longer do it.
