Lower Brass Trunnions

Hi all
Has anyone recently purchased and installed trunnions satisfactorily. ie with a good fit.
I have received a left hand that was a poor fit and now considering my next steps, the one already fitted(original Lotus) is superior to the one supplied.
The right hand side replacement was good without perceptible movement.
I am reluctant to purchase from a supplier without checking the forum first.

Is your LH upright in good condition and not worn?

Mike
My LH vertical link is in good condition the old trunnion I wanted to service has around 0.010" lateral movement, the new replacement had around 0.030" lateral movement way worse than the original Lotus one fitted from new.
The RH new had no perceptible lateral movement on a similar condition vertical link using a new trunnion from the same supplier.
I am just investigating if we have the poor manufactured trunnions that existed some years ago or was it a one off.
I have rebuilt the left hand suspension as I need to use the car but wish to service with a new trunnion.

Sorry to hear that, interesting to hear what your supplier make of it.

Hi Mike
The supplier was not a lot of help I asked him to try a trunnion on a new vertical link which he did, the result was that he felt there was some play but could not determine how much, I was not convinced that it would be any better than the one I removed.
I decided to return for a refund and investigate further.
My feeling is that if I can fit a trunnion to the RH successfully then I should be able to do the same to LH, my removed trunnion was substantially better than the new one supplied.

I purchased a new RH upright and new RH trunnion from Paul Marty. Also new LH trunnion from Kelvedon. All parts were marked “Stanpart” and the fit was excellent.

Why did you purchase the LH trunnion separately from the RH trunnion?
I presume you fitted the LH trunnion to a existing upright from your car.
The bottom line is I am trying to identify a supplier of quality trunnions.
Thanks for your help as I am to far away from from suppliers the test fit myself

I did one of mine (also the LH, IIRC) a couple of years ago and while I don't recall the manufacturer, there was no problem with the fit.
