Eye bolt spring

Hello chaps, can anyone shine a light on eye bolt spring on rear hand brake mechanism on a 72 +2.Are they normally fitted as I have never had any and have seen pictures lately, hence the question.Thanks Steve

Hi Steve,
The spring is not an original fitment but a common addition to help hold-off and centralise the pads and reduce wear ... you still need the centralising strips fitted and correctly adjusted.
Kelvedon Lotus list the spring and the other suppliers probably have them too...
