My schooltime French was not up to reading that, so I fed it though Google Translate and got:

"my stabilizer bar must receive epoxy paint or a chemical bath treatment bicromattage but for this I would like to know your opinion if a risk exists?"

But I don't know the answer to the question.

merci sait aussi avec Google Translate que je vous lie !
pour le bicromattage y a t'il une r?action chimique qui peu fragiliser ?

You mean if you electroplate the anti roll bar will it become fragile? If so would epoxy paint be a better option?

Don't know.

I've nickel plated mine.
I can't see that it would effect the strength of an inch thick bar.

Why risk it? Paint is easy to apply and repair.

Pourquoi risquer cela? La peinture est facile ? appliquer et ? r?parer

As a Canadian I can google!

New roll bars are plated on many modern cars, as 661 says, it's unlikely to affect a thick roll bar. After all, many roll bars work fine with thick layers of rust nowadays.

One time I was behind someone (?) in France at a buffet lunch and the waitress spoke, in French, (quelle surprise !) to this English speaking person, who wasn`t British. So he shouted at her louder and louder. I apologised to her in my schoolboy French and explained that some people from ???????? were *******. Maybe that`s why the French don`t like ????????s.

Bonsoir G?rard

My French is not up to this subject.

If I remember correctly from my metallurgy lectures, electroplating can result in micro cracks that may propagate into the base material and cause a reduced life.

A Google search leads me to believe that this is only true with chrome plating, it would therefor seem that other materials such as zinc or nickel are safe to use.

Personally I have chosen polyester powder coating.

Some plating processes can cause hydrogen brittling of the steel which can lead to failures. lotus suffered this problem in the early 60s when they started plating suspension arms on the race cars.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_embrittlement

Certain rust tratments involving acids can also cause this problem and hence are not recommended for high stress components such as suspension bits.

Not all plating processes cause a problem but I don?t know which are safe and which are not.

Personally I?d go for paint as things can rust under powder coat.
