Top ball joint on front upright

When you turn lock to lock does the rubber boot twist within itself or does the ball and tapered pin rotate in the boot? cheers, John

Latter I would expect. Add grease if yours is sticking.

Thanks Jon, you are right, I've put new boots on old [but good] joints and greased them well but I had the feeling that they appeared tight on the shaft. I just marked them up and turned the wheels, the shafts moved in the boots. Phew, I thought I might be having to do the job again, cheers, John.
