Last week I asked if anyone knew the angle between the two levers on the later design of tree, the type shown on page 21 section J of the workshop manual.
John and Brian replied and guided me to an old post that shows a photograph of a tree against a background of graph paper with 5mm squares. This enabled me to scale the photograph and measure the angle (29 degrees). Today a friend also called John found an old tree and has lent it to me. I measure this tree at 31 degrees, so I expect the design angle is 30 degrees.
I hope this helps anyone else who is contemplating making their own tree.
