Spyder front upright information

PostPost by: mr.vman » Sun Feb 26, 2017 9:44 pm

Looking for information on the Spyder front upright (steering knuckles) conversion, I have a set. The outer housings are fabricated, welded steel. The assembly uses a lower ball joint instead of Triumph sourced trunion. The spindle rotates in the housing. Brake rotors are ventilated with a cast iron single piston, floating caliper. Questions; Are these Ford Sierra parts? If so, what model and year? Or, What are the parts? Bearings, sealed or conventional lubricated? Should there not be an outer grease seal against the spindle flange (wheel side)? On the rotating spindle is a nylon stop nut. There is a spacer that fits between the inner bearing and nut, on a spline that has pointed teeth. Is the spacer also Sierra? Or? I don't think the uprights have ever been used. Have them, not sure what I will do with them yet. Need to collect parts and have them complete. Spyder's web site still shows the uprights, using different calipers. Thank you for the help, information and time.

Can't answer where the parts come from but here are a few pics of a Spyder demonstrator that may help.

Thank you for posting the pictures. Those are the front uprights (steering knuckle) assemblies I have. Hopefully, the internal parts can be identified, and I can complete the assemblies and decide what to do with them. Could be Ford Sierra?
