Straightening steel wheels

Is there someone in the US that can straighten our steel wheels? The peg holes are good and there are
no cracks so I think some effort toward refurbishing the ones I have is worth it. I'm, of course, assuming
the repros are still NLA.

I have used this shop for many years, both straightening steel Elan wheels and Revolution alloys. Prices are very fair. The tire must be removed from the rim for them to perform the repairs.
They are very old school, no web page or email.

One thing I learned from having 3 of my four Elan steel wheels straightened - The wheel must be structurally sound. Inspect the rivets for signs of movement on the inside of the center and inside the wheel. Repairing the outer rims is pretty straightforward, the center, not so much. The metal of the center is fairly soft. Two of my wheels straightened easily, the third came home straight, but after two weeks of light driving the lateral runout was back. He re-straightened it for free, but said it would not likely hold its shape. He was right. I replaced the wheel.

Greg,
You're welcome. I walked out with some confidence when I saw the set of Borrani wire wheels for a Ferrari 250 GTE he had just completely refurbished.

Greg,
Let me know who you decide to use. I have three sets of peg drive wheels, all with some degree of wobble and I have not had any luck finding someone who will straighten them. The minute they hear the wheels are steel everyone says they can't work on them. If you find a good repair shop, we might be able to have all of our wheels done at the same time which should save some money on set up fees.

Greg:
I've used these folks:
http://www.yeolewheelshop.net/index.html
They did a set of Europa alloys for me that came out perfectly, and straightened six Elan bolt-ons, five of which were usable (not their fault that one wasn't). I haven't needed to use them in years, but they're another option, particularly if you're looking for someone in the eastern U.S.

Patrick
