+2 Hexagonal wheel nuts for Lotus alloy wheels

PostPost by: dick+2130/5 » Sat Nov 14, 2015 12:16 pm

I have collected up 4 Hex chrome wheel nuts for my +2s. 2 of the nuts are stamped " Alloy wheels only", and 2 are plain with no writing. They all look identical as regards thread and cone angle which engages with the wheel. Are the unlabelled ones OK to use ? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks, Dick

there is a lot written about this in the past so you might try a search. It seems like there is some suggestion that they might be made out of different material so they don't interact with the steel versus alloy. However then I think some people tried magnets on them and said there wasn't any difference. I've used steel wheel only for sometime with no problem and now I have the blank ones that I've used with no problem. The only problem I think comes from Drive pegs not being long enough and there's also some threads about making the long drive pegs and using them with the alloy wheels. Gordon Sauer
