Plus 2 front vertical links

PostPost by: rmorgan12 » Fri Jun 19, 2015 4:13 pm

My previous thread read,

**********Are the front vertical links on a +2 the same as a Mk 1 Spitfire/Herald (they look exactly the same)or is it only the GT6's that fit. I see their is a set on ebay which look exactly the same but I'm not quite sure. I thought I remember reading a similar thread that the size of the stub axle taper might be different?*********

I've now learned that it's the GT6 vertical links that fit, not Herald/Spitfire.
Having looked on line can I also assume that the ones off the Elite/Eclat are the same aswell.

GT6 uprights are the correct ones for the +2, but I cant help with Elite or Eclat.

Yes, my 1979 Eclat used the GT6 uprights. Bolt pattern on the Eclat was 4 on 4.5 inch, so hubs are unique, but uprights are GT6.

I should mention, there is a company that makes adapter spindles that would work to fit GT6 hubs onto Spitfire/Herold uprights. With these, you don't have to change the upright, just the spindle, when switching to pin-dirve/knock off hubs.

I've just received the Eclat/Elite vertical link and Trunnion from Lotusbits and it is exactly the same as the Plus 2.
There is no slack in the thread and seems to be in good order although very grimy. At ?30 it's good value for money and because they're old, hopefully won't suffer with the problems associated with the new Vertical links i.e.. snapping at the top thread

Thank you to all who replied to my post.
